Product overview
The Heavy-Duty Steel Marine Anchor is a dependable anchoring solution for boat owners, fishermen, vessel operators, marine contractors and ship chandlers who need a solid steel anchor in a practical range of sizes.
With options starting at 5 kg and extending to 50 kg, customers can choose a weight suitable for anything from small craft and tenders to larger fishing boats and workboat applications. A reliable anchoring system is not determined by anchor weight alone.
Good holding performance also depends on the exact anchor design, vessel displacement and windage, seabed type, water depth, tide, weather, chain length, rope type, scope, shackles and whether the anchor has been properly set.
For this reason, customers should select the anchor together with correctly rated chain, rope and connecting hardware appropriate to their vessel and operating area. The steel construction provides the mass and structural strength needed for demanding marine use.
After saltwater exposure, the anchor should be rinsed with fresh water, inspected and stored dry. Any damaged finish, deformation, sharp edges or worn connection points should be addressed before the anchor is used again.
Customer selection note: The applications shown for each weight are general guidance only. The final choice must be based on the vessel, anchor design, seabed and expected conditions, with advice from a qualified marine professional where necessary.
Where it is used
- Larger or heavy-duty marine applications requiring professional selection and correctly rated handling equipment.
- Anchoring fishing boats during fishing, waiting or short stops.
- Securing tenders and small craft where the selected anchor is appropriate.
- General anchoring for leisure boats and coastal or inland-water craft.
- Replacement or spare anchors for vessels.
- Workboat and marine service operations requiring a portable steel anchor.
- Emergency or backup anchoring arrangements when specified by a competent marine professional.
Key benefits
- Strong steel construction: Provides a solid, heavy-duty anchor body for marine anchoring applications.
- Wide weight range: Nine options from 5 kg to 50 kg make it easier to match the anchor to different vessels and operating requirements.
- Suitable for fishing and marine users: Useful for recreational boat owners, artisanal and commercial fishermen, workboats, tenders and marine service operators.
- Straightforward size selection: Customers can compare weights and prices clearly before ordering.
- Compatible with complete anchor-rode systems: Can be connected to suitable chain, shackles and anchor rope selected for the vessel and expected load.
- Practical for chandlery supply: Multiple sizes support individual replacement purchases, fleet requirements and outfitting of different vessels.
- Easy maintenance routine: Regular rinsing, drying and inspection help protect the product and identify damage early.
Application & maintenance
- 01Not automatically suitable for: Permanent mooring systems unless a marine specialist has designed the full mooring arrangement.
- 02Not automatically suitable for: Lifting, hoisting or suspended-load use.
- 03Not automatically suitable for: A guaranteed boat-length match based only on anchor weight.
- 04Not automatically suitable for: Severe weather anchoring without a complete vessel-specific assessment.
- 05Identify the vessel: Record the vessel type, length, displacement, windage and normal loading.
- 06Check the operating area: Consider water depth, tide, current, wave exposure and expected weather.
- 07Understand the seabed: Sand, mud, rock, weed and mixed ground can require different anchor designs.
- 08Assess the full rode: Select suitable chain, rope, shackles, swivels and connection points—not the anchor alone.
- 09Confirm the required scope: The amount of rode paid out affects holding; follow appropriate marine guidance for the conditions.
- 10Allow a safety margin: A larger or more suitable anchor may be required for exposed areas, high windage or changing conditions.
- 11Seek professional advice: For larger craft, commercial vessels, heavy weather, permanent moorings or uncertain conditions, obtain vessel-specific guidance.
- 12Rinse the anchor with fresh water after saltwater use.
- 13Remove mud, sand, weed and other debris before storage.
- 14Inspect the anchor body, shank, flukes and connection point for bending, cracks, heavy corrosion or sharp damage.
- 15Inspect shackles, pins, chain and rope at the same time.
- 16Dry and store the anchor securely to prevent movement and damage inside the vessel.
- 17Remove the anchor from service if it is deformed, cracked or otherwise unsafe.
Questions we get asked
What sizes are available?
The anchors are available in 5 kg, 10 kg, 12 kg, 14 kg, 15 kg, 20 kg, 25 kg, 30 kg and 50 kg options.
How do I know which anchor weight is right for my boat?
Anchor selection depends on vessel size, displacement, windage, anchor design, seabed, depth, weather and the chain-and-rope system. Share these details with the seller or a qualified marine professional before choosing.
Is a heavier anchor always better?
Not necessarily. Extra weight may improve penetration or holding in some situations, but the correct anchor pattern, seabed compatibility, rode, scope and setting technique are equally important. An anchor must also be safe for the vessel and crew to handle.
Can I use braided polyester rope with this anchor?
Polyester rope may be used as part of an anchor rode when its diameter, construction and rating are suitable. The rope, chain and fittings must be selected as a complete system. Polyester has lower stretch than nylon, so shock loading must be considered.
Can I use the anchor for a permanent mooring?
Do not assume a portable boat anchor is suitable for a permanent mooring. Permanent moorings should be designed for the vessel, seabed and local conditions by a competent marine professional.
How should I store the anchor?
Clean and dry it, then secure it in an anchor locker, bracket or designated storage point so it cannot move and injure people or damage the vessel.
Are the anchors suitable for commercial vessels?
Some larger options may be appropriate for certain commercial or workboat applications, but commercial vessel requirements must be checked against the vessel’s approved equipment and applicable marine regulations.
